The bungalow stands on long poles in the middle of banana, elephant-ear taro, bamboo, coconut palms, and lush ferns, and is reached by a black pebble walking path strewn with hibiscus flowers. There are screens on every window, and a white ceiling fan whirls overhead. The bungalow is situated to take advantage of the prevailing breezes and ocean views. Every evening the maids turn down and drape a gauze net around each of the two queen-sized beds. If it gets too cold, wool blankets are in each bungalow. The wood lined shower is spacious, and because each bungalow has its own water heater, there is a ready supply of hot water. White Victorian upholstered wicker chairs and love seats echo the South Seas feeling. Birds chirping in the nearby trees at dawn and the sounds of raindrops on the thatch roofs are free of charge. To keep the bungalows quiet, telephone, email and fax services are available in the lobby. Enjoy the breathtaking sunset on the lagoon from the open side of the dining room or enjoy the perfect cocktail at the famous Tattooed Irishman bar. The restaurant fare is scrumptious - the prime rib, steaks and lamb come from Denver, and are delivered twice a month by ship. You ll have to try the chilled sashimi of yellow fin tuna to know what fresh fish really means; the reef fish are caught on Pohnpei daily. Local farmers grow the Chinese cabbage and other greens used in the salads. The entire staff in the dining room are eager, friendly and speaks English. Since the hotel is built on a point, the whole north lagoon is right in front of you. This beach resort consisted of three separate bungalow sections, Sunrise, Sokehs, and the Point. The hotel provides a full tour service to its guests, specializing in day trips to Nan Madol and the neighbouring islands, cultural dances and land trips as requested - including certified scuba and snorkel guides. For scuba activities, please bring your certification card, regulator, and buoyancy compensator. Overall, that "open air" feeling, the scuba diving and Nan Madol tours, the food and the personal touches -- these are what the Village is famous for. USD 20.00 per person transfer to and from airport is compulsory.(0805KW)
